Book Free ConsultationReclaim Your Portuguese Heritage
Portugal's nationality laws allow descendants of Portuguese emigrants — and those of Sephardic Jewish heritage — to apply for citizenship without needing to reside in Portugal. VB Consultants has guided hundreds of clients through this complex process, handling every stage from eligibility assessment to passport collection.
Whether you are a second-generation descendant, a spouse of a Portuguese national, or tracing Sephardic roots, we will assess your situation and map the clearest route to your Portuguese passport.
Who Is Eligible?
Descendants of Portuguese Nationals
Children and grandchildren of Portuguese citizens born abroad may apply for nationality by origin, provided the Portuguese parent or grandparent registered the birth at a Portuguese consulate.
Sephardic Jewish Heritage
Individuals who can demonstrate descent from Portuguese Sephardic Jews expelled in 1496 may apply for naturalisation under Law 30-A/2015, regardless of current residence.
Spouses & Civil Partners
Foreign nationals married to or in a civil partnership with a Portuguese citizen for at least three years may apply for naturalisation.
Long-Term Residents
Those who have legally resided in Portugal for five or more years may apply for naturalisation through the standard route.
